Karpal Kaur SANDHU

Date of death: 4th November 1973

Karpal was the first Sikh female officer to join the Metropolitan Police Service. After training she served on Leyton and Hornsey divisions. Karpal was initially in a nursing career before she decided to join the police. She was tragically killed just after two year’s service. Karpal, 30, leaves behind two children.

Kulwant Singh SIDHU

Date of death: 24th October 1999

Kulwant after leaving training school was posted to Richmond borough. Kulwant, 24, died whilst pursuing burglary suspects, he fell through a glass skylight in Twickenham. Kulwant loved going to Canada, he was keen on fitness and had a sense of humour that was unique. He was very brave always putting himself before others. Kulwant was the first Sikh officer to die on duty. He leaves behind his parents, sister and brother.

Pirthi Rai Paul Singh BEDI

Date of joining: 2nd December 2002

Date of death: 7th December 2004

Pirthi after leaving Hendon training school was posted at Wembly Police station. Pirthi, died whilst as a passenger in car that overturned in a tragic road traffic accident. Pirthi from childhood took a keen interest in Shaster Vidya and was particularly interested in the life and Marshal Art of Nihang Singhs. Pirthi, 24, leaves behind his parents, brothers and sisters.

Jetander LAL

Warrant number: 512960

Date of joining: 10 August 2005

Shoulder number: 5520 ID

Jetander was a Special Police Constable with the MPS, he was posted at Heathrow Police Station. Jetander, 40, died of cancer. Jetander loved travelling (even got married in Mauritius), worked hard, never sat back and he mentored many probationers. He was a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle.
